Basic goal with this project is to add a bit on the altar of the struggle for reunification and freedom of Cyprus. I will be happy if this work remains in history as a beacon of hope to return to our homeland reminding us our duty for our county, our ancestors and future generations. I wish the public to embrace this project as something of his own, as I felt myself, in order to encourage, transfer the spirit of awareness and raise our souls until the day of the longed return. It is my hope that the project “Famagusta Odes” will be performed in the ancient theatre of Salamina after the liberation of our town.

Αφιερωμένο σε όσους θυσιάστηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια του απελευθερωτικού αγώνα 1955-59. Η εθνική συνείδηση αλλά και η μνήμη όλων πρέπει να επαγρυπνεί και να διαφυλάσσει τα προ αιώνων ιδανικά του Ελληνισμού. Οι νέοι της τότε εποχής έδωσαν χωρίς δισταγμό, τη ζωή τους την ίδια για να ζούμε εμείς σήμερα ελεύθεροι. Σημαιοφόρος στον άνισο αυτό αγώνα, αλύγιστος και ανυπέρβλητος στάθηκε ο Γρηγόρης Αυξεντίου. Ο Σταυραετός του Μαχαιρά θυσιάστηκε για μια Κύπρο ελεύθερη, ανεξάρτητη και πάνω απ’ όλα ελληνική. Ας προβληματιστούμε και ας εμπνευστούμε από τη ζωή, τη δράση, το ήθος και κυρίως την αυταπάρνηση και θυσία του μεγάλου αυτού ήρωα. Αιωνία του η μνήμη.
Dedicated to those who were sacrificed during the liberation struggle of 1955-59. The national consciousness and the memory of everyone must be vigilant and safeguard the centuries-old ideals of Hellenism. The young people of that time gave their lives without hesitation, so that we can live free today. Grigoris Afxentiou stood out in this unequal struggle, inescapable and insuperable. The Cross-eagle, as they called him, of Machairas was sacrificed for a free, independent and above all Greek Cyprus. Let us reflect on and be inspired by the life, action, ethos, and especially the self-denial and sacrifice of this great hero. May his memory live for ever.

HEALING SOULS for guitar solo

“Healing Souls” is a symbolic title reflecting human suffering during the pandemic period of COVID-19. Through my current work, I strive to heal souls of human beings who suffered and finally survived this deadly virus. Nevertheless, some people did not recover, but their souls will live with us forever. This is the first CD that I publish with exclusively solo guitar music of my own. The Twelve Études serve as studies for classical guitar solo, suggesting a specific performance technique for each composition. They follow a curve line of difficulty starting from elementary level to advance. The Six Préludes were dedicated to people and cities that marked my life. The Sonatas Nos. 1,2,3 emphasize the multiple colors of the classical guitar on the highest caliber.

Παράδοση…μία λέξη, μία ιστορία! Παρά- και -δίνω. Η παραλαβή και η παράδοση ενός ανεκτίμητου θησαυρού. Τα ήθη και έθιμα ενός λαού μεταλαμπαδεύονται από γενιά σε γενιά. Κάθε χώρα, οφείλει να διαφυλάξει τη λαϊκή της παράδοση ως κατευθυντήρια γραμμή για τις πολλαπλές δυσκολίες της σύγχρονης ζωής. Ας εμπνευστούμε από το παρελθόν, διατηρώντας συγχρόνως αλώβητη τη λαϊκή μας παράδοση. Η παραδοσιακή μουσική και τα τραγούδια της Κύπρου, υμνούν την κατεχόμενη γη των προγόνων μας και συνάμα, ενώνουν ολόκληρο το νησί ως μία οντότητα ενός ελεύθερου και ανυπότακτου κράτους. Σε κάθε πόλη και χωριό οι καλλιτέχνες, διανθίζουν τη μουσική παράδοση βασισμένοι στις μελωδίες ή αλλιώς «Φωνές» και στα μουσικά ακούσματα του τόπου μας.
Tradition...one word, one story! The receipt and delivery of a priceless treasure. The morals and customs of a people are passed down from generation to generation. Every country must preserve its folk tradition as a guideline for the multiple difficulties of modern life. Let's be inspired by the past, while keeping our folk tradition intact. The traditional music and songs of Cyprus praise the occupied land of our ancestors and at the same time unite the entire island as one entity of a free and unruly state. In every city and village, the artists embellish the musical tradition based on the melodies or "Voices" and the musical sounds of our native land.
